          Academic News

          Congratulations to the winners of the Student Phonathon t-shirt art contest! Sam Kelly submitted the winning design, which will be seen on all Student Phonathon t-shirts this year. Sam also received a $50 gift certificate to his place of choice. Hunter Monohan’s design was a very close second and he will receive a $25 gift certificate to his place of choice. Way to go Sam and Hunter, and thanks to all those who submitted an entry. They were all great and it was a hard decision!

          Seniors, prom tickets are now on sale. You can purchase yours during lunch. The price is $60 per couple.

          Are you considering studying medicine in the future? Do you enjoy mission trips where you can really make a difference? If so, Operation Smile may be a great organization for you. Operation Smile sends teams of doctors, nurses and students all around the world to fix cleft palates for children who might never get the needed surgery otherwise. Assumption High School has the largest Operation Smile club in Kentucky and is inviting other schools to join in the good work. This is a service organization that would give you a chance to really make a difference. If you are interested in helping out, see Mr. Manning or Mr. Zoeller by this Thursday to sign up for a March 5 meeting at Assumption.

          Seniors, the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is offering a scholarship. You must write an essay and have a letter of recommendation. The deadline to apply is March 24. See Mrs. Bohannon for an application.

          Seniors, another scholarship opportunity. The Chamber of St. Matthews is offering a $1,000 scholarship. You must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, two letters of recommendation, a transcript, and a demonstrated role in community service. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2017. See Mrs. Bohannon for an application.

          House News

          The Waterstep shoe collection runs now through Friday, March 10. Bring in shoes of any condition to your advisor to be collected. In addition to being a House competition, the advising group with the most overall shoes will win a special prize.

          Activity News

          Last week members of the Speech and Debate team traveled to Gatlinburg, TN to compete in the Smoky Mountain Invitational hosted by Carson-Newman University.  The Rocks represented Trinity and Kentucky well with four Rocks advancing past preliminary rounds. Freshman Gus Boyer advanced to quarterfinals in Declamation while senior Teddy Dentinger advanced to quarters in Humorous Interpretation. This placed both in the top 24 of their respective events in the tournament. Senior Jacob Romines and junior Cooper Winrich advanced to the semifinal round of Impromptu Speaking, placing both in the top 12. Winrich also advanced to finals in Extemporaneous Speaking and claimed third place overall. With this success, Gus Boyer also earned membership to the National Speech and Debate Association, a national honors society for speech and debate students.

          The Electronics Club will meet after school today in F134 from 3 to 4 p.m.

          The Book Club will meet Tuesday after school in the library. Please make plans to attend. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, see Mr. Schum in F245.

          Attention Axiom staff — there will be a meeting today from 3 – 4 in Ms. Walling’s room S255. We will have our yearbook photo taken at this time. Hope to see you there. Also, poetry writers, The Axiom is still looking for poetry submissions. Please send your poems to Ms. Walling at walling@thsrock.net. She will email you back when she receives your work. The deadline for all submissions is Tuesday.

          The 10th ACE mentoring class will be held in Mr. CM’s room, F134, this Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. Attendance is mandatory. Please come prepared with your design elements for our project. We only have a couple of classes left for this year.

          The next Culinary Club meeting will be on Tuesday, March 7. Make plans to stay and make another great meal. The theme will be foods from India. See you in the kitchen!

          The Pre-Medical Society will have a short meeting after school on Wednesday to provide info and register students for the Surgery on Sunday program offered through the U.L. Medical School.  Come find out more on Wednesday at 3:10 p.m. in Mr. Budniak’s room, F136!

          There will be an FBLA meeting for all club members on Thursday. All those students planning to attend the regional conference must attend this meeting to discuss preparations and details for the upcoming event.

          The Mother-Son Mass will be held this Sunday. Beta Club members can earn service hours by participating in the Mass through a variety of roles. Please see Coach Becker in room F234 if you would like to help.

          Ushers are needed for the spring musical, The King and I, which l opening March 7. You can earn three hours per performance. Sign up for multiple nights and earn more. See Mrs. Durbin in T316 or email her at durbin@trinityrocks.com.

          The King and I is in need of a costume assistant. This is a great opportunity for lots of service hours. Go see Mr. Bradford any day after school in the theater to find out more information.

          Get your tickets for the spring musical The King and I. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (over 60) and students. Trinity students can get a $6 ticket by purchasing during school hours. What a cheap and fun date night with your favorite girl. Come see Mrs. Durbin in T316.

          Sports News

          Last night in the “House” intramural basketball tournament, Merton, led by Terrance Durrett’s 19 points, defeated Flannan 71 – 60, and Becket, led by Riley Davidson’s 35 points, beat Toussaint 80  – 58. Becket will play Merton this Thursday at 8 a.m. in front of the whole school to determine the 2017 “House” Intramural Basketball Champion.

          Tonight your Basketball Rocks will take on St. X in Steinhauser Gymansium at 7 p.m. in the first round of the 7th Region tournament. Tickets are sure to sell out. Be sure to purchase yours this afternoon. Go Rocks!

          All members of the lacrosse program must report to the Marshall Center wrestling room Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 for a meeting with Coach Cubbage. You will be getting information on baseline concussion testing. This is for varsity, JV and developmental team players. If you are on the Rugby team and missed the meeting Friday, please attend this as well.

          Attention all students not currently involved in a spring or club sport here at Trinity. This Thursday in the Convocation Hall at 3:15, there will be an “all-class” ping pong tournament. If you are interested, show up at Convocation Hall no later than 3:15 this Thursday to sign up.

          March is around the corner and you know what that means. The most exciting tournament is about to begin, the Intramural Ultimate Frisbee tournament. There will be a freshmen division, sophomore division and a combined junior/senior division. Students participating in a spring sport are unable to participate. Team captains need to pick up a team roster and get the tournament rules during lunch or stop by Mr. Bryant or Mr. Carroll’s classroom throughout the day. Completed rosters are due to Mr. Carroll by the end of the school day this Friday.
